“Promise me”, Aruna asked me promise not to do one thing I held to close to my heart. “Promise me. What ever happened in the past stays in the past”, she wanted me to stop my crossdressing after marriage. “Whatever happened, will never happen”, I promised as I did not want to lose her. June 10, the day I will never forget. It was this day, my college got officially over. When the clock struck 1pm, we handed our theory answer sheets and left the exam hall with heavy heart. I saw my friends hugging each other for one last time. We knew it was a part of our life, but our heart refused to accept it. After emotionally draining last moments with my friends, I vacated my room. Continue reading “Varsha: Wedding”

“CHAMAYAVILAKKU?”, I enquired him about what it meant. Excited by my curiosity, Amrith quickly pulled up a chair and explained that the festival is where men dress like women to offer prayers to goddess and how it has been safe haven for cds like us to enjoy our femininity in public without any fear. I was very intrigued by his prospect, but the fear of exposing me in public gripped my heart. My previous experience in public with my sister flashed before me and made my stomach churn. “Sorry man. It’s too risky for me”, I tried my level best to avoid the travel. “Believe me dude, I can guarantee it will be the best days of your life. Trust me”, Amrith threw his usual tantrums and somehow brainwashed me to accept it. Continue reading “Varsha: A secret trip”

“Is it wrong?” I questioned my sister the next day, after our mother slept. My question was met with silence. “Please answer me, is it wrong for me to dress?” still I received no reply from her. She quickly opened her laptop and began typing “crossdresser” in google search. She opened a wiki page and passed her laptop to me. I began to read the wiki thoroughly and returned it back. “You know what It means right?”, she questioned my new knowledge. I nodded still looking at the page. “See.”, she began. “You are just a guy who likes to wear girl’s clothes. That’s it. There is nothing wrong in it”, she explained. “There are many people like you in this world and don’t even think any other thoughts in your mind” she continued. My sister finally caught a whiff of what I was trying to achieve. But, wanting to confirm more, she once again challenged me in a badminton duel and won. Losing interest, I rushed back inside without waiting for her. “You did not hear my wish”, her words fell on my deaf ears. After dinner, she took me outside for a walk. “You did not hear my wish”, she repeated again. “Sorry…what is it?” I asked without even looking at her. “I want to dr…”, she began again. “Yeah, I know. You want to drive scooty”, I completed her sentence. “No, I want to dress you in saree”, her words threw me off. Even though, I was happy to hear her words. But suspecting foul play, I rejected her idea as rubbish. Continue reading “Varsha: Sister’s surprise”

The play finally got over by 8pm. When curtains closed after the final act, Audience raised the roof with their whistles and claps. With my teacher’s approval, I dispersed from the backstage crowd to the change room, where my mother was waiting with a bag. Continue reading “Varsha: The Masterplan”

With none of my antics working, I finally surrendered. “Just promise me one thing”, I requested my mom. “Which is?”, she was eager than ever to hear me. “Under no circumstance, Gayathri must know this…not even dad”, I raised my hand for her promise. She promised that no one will know about this and kissed me in my cheek with love.

The next morning, I left her in teacher’s cabin and went to watch the rehearsal. Sometime later, she came out with some notes and signaled me to come. “Thank you madam, Varshan will come tomorrow”, she thanked my teacher and we started heading home. Continue reading “Varsha: Stage is set”
